The meat itself was good but the sides....not so much. Next time I'll opt for a sandwich instead of a plate. It was kind of pricey too.

Love the variety of sauces. Hubby loves the potato salad. It is mouth watering. We go here monthly.
(5)Matt L.
Great food. Enjoyed the 4 bone ribs and pulled pork. Potato salad is also great. It's pretty heavy but tastes awesome. Staff was very friendly. I would certainly return if back in little rock.
(4)Harry B.
Great BBQ, the best place in town.
(5)Mike C.
I travel all over the country and love to try others attempt at BBQ, not to mention I'm a novice BBQ competitor. So, with that said the flavor profiles of Whole Hog North Little Rock are spot on. The meat is always tender and delicious You won't find a dirty bathroom or or a rude employee. The restaurant serves lots of folks and there is a great ambiance with fun decorations. Don't miss out on this BBQ.
(5)Brent J.
Awesome BBQ sauce #3 is the best. I got the nachos last time wasn't too impressed not enough cheese but the pulled pork sandwiches was delicious!
(5)John B.
Barbecue is just one of those things. One mans dry trash or crappy sweet sauce brings another man tears of joy. When it comes to Whole Hog, I'm crying because I can't have it all the time! If you're new maybe go with the whole hog platter. It's really big enough for two modest eaters to split. I don't think you can go wrong with any single meat here, but the brisket takes my nod. That is unless they have rib meat sandwiches available, which happens some days til they run out. And it is a local barbecue place, so when they run out of something, I'd say it's a sign of quality that they can't "put some more on" as one reviewer suggested. Time, smoke and love combined with low temperatures make this meat great; ain't no microwaving this. Sure, the sides aren't house made, but I'm not here for potato salad (although theirs is a ten) I'm here for slow-cooked meat. Having lived in a BBQ dry zone for several years (Denver) I always cut a line here within a day of deboarding the plane to get my fix. Top that off with six sauces that are all unique and delicious (not that you need to, the meat speaks for itself) and I don't think you can go wrong. Some of the best BBQ I've had anywhere in the country. Excellence!

Coming from San Francisco, I don't get good BBQ very often so I wanted to be sure and take in a good local place while on business in Little Rock. Whole Hog was recommended by our business contact and their recommendation was dead on. I ordered the famous pulled pork with potato salad and baked beans as a side. Oh, you also get a tasty role to mop up the plate in case you want to be part of the clean plate club. To drink I had to go local so i ordered a Pale Ale that was on tap. I forget the name but you'll recognize it because the beer tap has a wolf on it. My coworker ordered the baby back ribs plus some sausage. They serve all BBQ "dry" which means you can use one of the 6 BBQ sauces that they have at each table to squirt as much on your meat as you like. As far as I'm concerned this is a far superior way to prepare BBQ because I often find that BBQ, and pulled pork in particular is swimming in the pre-made sauce. Service was very helpful as a clueless tourist like me was recognized as soon as I walked in the door so the staff did a great job letting me know what they are famous for (the Pulled Pork), their best sides (Potato Salad) and how much food is too much (get the Plate). Prices were very reasonable - mostly all less that $10. If you want a beer to wash down your meal and maybe something sweet after your feast, that might run you $15. Coming from San Francisco, I'd be lucky to get a burger for $15.

Okay...your open till 9pm...we come at 7....your out of potatoes and chicken....don't you think someone should have said oh wow were running low let's put some in!! Worst service I've ever had there Very disappointed customer. ..we left!!!
(1)Kristi C.
Delicious!! So glad we made the stop on our road trip! Great BBQ for anyone since you can pick your own sauce or don't have any if you choose! Great dinner!
(5)Alex D.
I've been to Kansas City Joes, Arthur Bryant's and other top places. This places has better all around ribs than both places. There's a place in Ozark that is very good also. I enjoyed the service and the food was great! Plus it's not in the ghetto!

About 15 years ago during my first military course at Little Rock, I asked the instructor where would he recommend for barbecue, and he said without hesitation the Whole Hog Cafe. It's nice to see Whole Hog is still kicking it and holding onto their high standards. Came on a Monday, Military Appreciation Night with a discount, good deal! Ordered a brisket platter with a side of baby back ribs, with potato salad. baked beans, and corn bread on the side. That glorious barbecue taste with its char and smoke ring was still there! The barbecue was nicely seasoned and didn't need sauce, but WH offers six different ones- it was fun to dab a little and figure out which one I liked the best. There was too much food, and I had to take about half back to the hotel as leftovers. A Yelp check in got you a free brownie for dessert, so the total was under $15- great deal for the amount of food and its taste. Whole Hog is a must-stop for me whenever I visit Little Rock, definitely will repeat and recommend!
(4)Justin H.
Alway pleasant, service is always fast, and the bbq is fresh and hot. Anytime I'm not sure where I want to eat, this is my go-to. Only complaint: they're not open on Sunday.
(5)Meredith G.
Omg. Amazing. What a great yelp recommendation. Food is amazing. Best potato salad I've ever had. Bacon in it? Ridiculous. If I come back to this city, I'll come back the the restaurant. The kicker, staff is very friendly and helpful.
(5)Toby T.
They're friendly, they play blues, and they serve solid 'que. What more can you ask for? They also have six proprietary sauces, seven if you include the volcano sauce they keep behind the counter (supposedly because it's too hot to offer on tables), and eight if you also include the original Shack sauce recipe (The Shack closed down in the 50s and remains a subject of BBQ folklore, apparently). I try not to eat swine, but they have excellent brisket and chicken, and their BBQ beans are world class. I've been eating at Whole Hog Cafe for at least ten years, and will continue to do so as long as their food is this good!
(5)Don A.
The definition of the perfect BBQ place...clean, everything you need, cold beer, comes in a real glass, and the rib meat jumps right off the bones and into your mouth.
(5)Savannah W.
The food is excellent but the portion size for how much you pay isn't very big. Very clean and the waitress and waiters are very good. The tea was sour .
(4)Mark G.
Now we're talking!!! After hunting and driving since 3:30 a.m. my son and I needed some food. He suggested this place and he was not wrong. The store is clean. It's also well organized and the decor is perfect. Mid-afternoon on a Monday will not find a lot of people in so we had some room to roam and take it in. The employees are polite and were on top of their game. Some stores, mid-afternoon, you do not always get the best of attention The food was great! the sauce selection provided what anyone would look for no matter the palate. If you check in on the Yelp app, you get a free brownie too!

The Whole Hog is a staple restaurant when I visit Little Rock. I've eaten at this location a few times now and my preference is for the beef brisket, although I also tried the pulled chicken on this trip. Out of the seven sauces available (the hottest of which comes only by request) my favorites are #4 and #5. My favorite sides are the cheesy corn and the slaw. Our group also enjoyed the ribs. Portions are generous and the kitchen crew delivered the orders quickly and accurately. Our group of nine had our meals within 10 minutes. The interior is simple (almost spartan) and clean. The staff quickly buses tables and cleans them. Alcohol is available on-site and the cost of the meals was reasonable given the amount of food.
(4)Maggie K.
Brought a group of 14 or so for lunch on a Saturday and it was poppin!! So busy but very organized; extensive sitting areas and lots of room. The food was perfect and so delicious and all the sauces to choose from!! Everyone in our group loved it and enjoyed the atmosphere as well.

Dinner June 27 Let me preface this review with the fact that I did eat there at 8:30pm about 30 minutes to close, so I am guessing the meat I ate was not at its highest flavor or fresh potential. What I really liked: - prices were very reasonable/a family can eat there without going broke - ribs were very meaty and smoked, you could see the meat pulling away from the bones (ie..it was cooked slowly and correctly) - the pork had lots of bark and you could see you were getting pork from different parts, it wasn't all just stringy pork, it was mixed - the staff was very helpful & friendly - the atmosphere was very pleasing and had lots of dining options for seating (high tops, tables, booths) So here's what I didn't like: - The coleslaw was terrible. It was very bitter (ie...don't cut the stalk up in your cole slaw)..Plus, it lacked any recognizable sauce or flavoring, it was just dry chopped cabbage. - The baked beans - had an hint of cinnamon and chili flavoring which I liked, but it seemed liked just plain ole VanDeKamp Beans -- try adding some of last nights pulled pork in there and some onions/green peppers - The ribs were not cut/sliced and although there was a lot of meat on the baby back, when I pull the bones out I was just left with a big hunk of rib meat and I "lost" the sense I was eating a rib. - I don't like it when a place has more than 2 (maybe 3 sauces tops). They have 6 here. It just seems to me you should have your signature sauce, and maybe a hotter variation and that is it. AND your signature sauce should go perfectly with your meats because your make your sauce based on the way you cook your meat and the marinade/mopping sauces you use in the cooking process. They should compliment each other. - Again, it was 8:30pm, but I just didn't get a strong sense of flavoring in the meat unless I put sauce on them.

Great quick BBQ place with multiple locations. First time at this location and it was as good as the others I had been to previously. As you walk in, you are greeted by a friendly order taker at a register. The menu is full of traditional BBQ favorites, but my personal order always includes the pulled pork sandwich, served traditional with cole slaw on the sandwich. No sauce is included in your sandwich as you have 6 options at your table. I really like sauce #6 which is a mustard and vinegar based sauce. The only knock I have on this place is the selection of sides. Cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans is about all they offer. This is one area a nearby rival like Corky's is ahead of WH. Other than that, this place is great. Free brownie offer when I checked in here on Yelp!
(4)Ian M.
Very fast service and the food was very good but the portions were small. When I go to eat BBQ I think the implication is a gluttonous mess of meat and bones and beans and potatoes. This was not my experience with the Whole Hog. While the food was very good I was left wanting more by the time I was done. The ribs were fall off the bone and incredibly tasty but they were on the short side, the beans were very very good (again a small portion size), the potato salad was the star of the meal in both taste and portion size. The sauces available felt like a tour of BBQ joints from Texas to Memphis to Michigan. Spicy, sweet, spicier, mustard based all excellent. Don't pass this place up, the food is excellent, just order an extra meat or side.
(4)Lindsey L.
This is my all-time favorite BBQ joint. The first time I went I got the Whole Hog Platter. It has a little bit of everything. It's big enough to share, but it also reheats really well in the oven if you're dining alone. Most of the time I still order that Platter--mainly because I can never decide between the pulled pork or brisket. The baked beans are perfect, and they have a ranch dressing-based potato salad.
(5)Larry P.
A frequent stop for me and my coworkers and that's why I feel the need to do a little Yelping. These folks are very consistent with taste and generous with their servings, always fresh, quick and clean. Thank you!
(5)Lesley M.
Love BBQ....Love this place! The BBQ is moist and tender. The BBQ sauces are plentiful. The drinks are ice cold. My usual is the pulled pork sandwich with baked beans. I know it's original, but once I find something I like I don't steer away from it. What I really like about the restaurant is their options of sauce. You have your sweet, spicy, and vinegar based. They have the sauces numbered on each table (usually 6) so you can easily remember which is your favorite (mine is #3). (You can always purchase the sauces too.) When I have ordered the pulled pork sandwich there was always a large spoonful of the pork on a hamburger bun. The baked beans are baked with the perfect amount of sauce and spice. I am not a fan of cole slaw so I cannot give an honest review on it. The restaurant is very large so you can easily have a group party/gathering at this location. My husband had his work Christmas party there one year. The service has been great with not a lot of interruptions while we have been dining...something I appreciate.

I hate to sound like a b-b-que snob but maybe I am. My girlfriend and I were staying in Little Rock at the Princess B&B which was quite awesome btw. We asked the house hostess where to get some good b-b-que and this was the place she sent us to. We got there around dinner time I would imagine and were pretty excited based on her reviews and all of the awards, plaques etc decorating the place. The ordering was simple at the counter and they bring out your chow. I always try to get pulled pork with slaw as test #1 and then also some brisket if they have it and last if they have beef ribs Texas style I go for those too. For some reason I am not a big fan of pork ribs but maybe some day I will get there. We got our pulled pork, brisket and other fixins. I want to say we got their sampler pack to try the different meats and really get a sense of the place. Everything was sort of Meh. Not that it was really bad or anything it just wasn't really good if you know what i mean. The prices were not too bad but I would probably not be in a big hurry to run back there. We talked with the house hostess later and she was pretty bummed we didn't like it all that much. She gave us another referral for a mexican restaurant near the River Walk in downtown LR which turned out to me AMAZING!!! Juanita's 614 President Clinton Ave, Little Rock, AR 72201 (501) 372-1228 So not to knock them too much or anything I think we sort of chocked it up to being an off day or something so I may give them another shot. I guess there are other locations as the one we went to was in a strip mall.

Called on a Saturday afternoon about bringing a group of 50+ high school students and parents for dinner before we headed back to northern Illinois. After confirming with manager that they could take our group we were all set. Team called back later in the day to reconfirm our plans (totally understandable). Service was great, food was good. Everyone appreciated the section that had been reserved for us in the back room. I think a few folks turned around and left when they saw our line out the door, but we really didn't have to wait too long. They were already out of chicken when we arrived ~7pm, but plenty of everything else. The giant baked potato covered in brisket was a big hit with several in our group. I added a rib to my brisket order and it was a great addition. There was a second large group that had arrived before we did and they were sending out what looked like a huge (three big boxes!) to go order when we got there. So to have our group go through at the same time without a wait was pretty amazing. Nice treat for us before getting back on the bus for home.

I've eaten here a couple of times on long road trips, and I have enjoyed each visit. Friendly staff, clean dining room and restrooms, local beer on tap, nice decor, lots of seating with options from "in front of the television with the big game on" to "large group" to more quiet and relaxed. My favorite are the ribs with sauce #6 and the potato salad. The ribs are a wet rub style, and the potato salad I think has some sour cream in the recipe that gives it a nice bite.
(4)Miriam W.
If you like the food at Whole Hog's original location, you will like it here. And I like everything about this place. I think ordering at the counter is just fine, as they know how to move things along here. I like the homey, barn-like space, the comfy banquette seating, the squeeze bottles of delicious sauces on the tables, and the wonderful way they have with smoked meats. Their ribs, pulled pork and chicken are all delicious, and it's fun to try them all with the different sauces. I like all the sides they offer, but the potato salad, with its rich sour cream base, is off the hook. I checked in on Yelp last time I was here and got a free brownie for my effort. That was good too. I'm always impressed with pit masters who know their stuff, and they sure do at Whole Hog.
(5)Red H.
This place is amazing!!! I would recommend it to everyone who is in need of some of the most amazing BBQ ever!
(5)David K.
The best bbq on the planet. You can have red sauces or a rich mustard sauce and both will deliver you to the promised land. Ribs are meaty and the pulled pork is not covered in fat. Ohhh.. by the way, the smokiness is just right.
(5)Douglas W.
The satellite to the original location is as good maybe better. It has a nice vibe and offers a better selection of deserts than the downtown location. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. It's consistantly great BBQ and in my top 20.
(5)L F.
I should have taken the other reviewer's advice - my visit tonight was a disappointment. The service was the bright spot. The food: - slaw.....very little taste and soggy. - potato salad.....meh. - pork ribs.....tough, lacking in flavor, not sliced so it was a battle to eat them. - they seem very excited about having SIX sauces.....I would settle for one or two really good sauces instead of six mediocre sauces. - on a positive note, the beer was cold.
(3)Jennifer K.
Awesome food. Am d great options for alternate bbq. The food was awesome and service was with a smile definitely coming back next time I'm here.
(5)Papa H.
Sausage had no flavor. Brisket was not as good as Arby's roast beef! If it wasn't for 6 different sauces, meal would have been a total bust ! Brisket was shaved very thin with little or no flavor! Sorry guys, Smokin Buns wins this trip!
(2)Joshua N.
I've eaten here twice now and the place is good. I'm an out of towner and where I'm from the BBQ isn't this good so I had to come check it out. I had the half slab of ribs and the Beef/Pork comb I believe. No complaints at all. I also love the potato salad. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 is because my co worker hyped the place up beyond belief. Other than it's good BBQ and I'd eat here regularly If I lived here.
(4)Lindsay S.
My family dined here during lunch on a girlfriend's recommendation, it was just OK. I have definitely had better local BBQ since moving to LR a few months ago. The meat tasted dry and mass produced (we had the brisket, it was machine-sliced thin), and maybe like it had been sitting out for a little while. I appreciated the variety of sauces offered but when the very basis of the business (meat!) isn't great to start with then even the best sauce doesn't help. Maybe it was an off day and we came at a bad time but I will probably not go back. I thought it was kind of pricey at around $38 with the military discount (2 sandwich plates and a kids meal) for the portion sizes and food quality. FYI: Military discount is offered on Monday, just show ID if not in uniform.
(3)Shilo M.
Awesome food, great availability for large orders on short notice.. My personal favorite is the brisket, and homemade carrot cake!
(5)Eliza H.
I'm really excited to write this review! Out of the last two weeks that I've been in Arkansas, this was my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! Leave it to my good ol' trainer to save this place for my last night here. I'm from Texas so we know what's up when it comes to beef BBQ, but if you want to be educated on HOG BBQ, come here to get schooled. VENUE: You can smell the wonderful smokey bbq from yards away. You walk in, order your food and choose your seats. There's a TV for you sports watchers. It was clean and well lit (I notice these things). FOOD/DRINK: Okay I was struggling on choosing the brisket or the ribs. I'm kind of trying to diet, so you can imagine how difficult it was for me to walk away from either of those choices. I chose the BBQ Pork salad. Here I am thinking there were going to be shreds of pork scattered in a bed of lettuce, and I wouldn't feel like I undid my hour at the gym prior. Nope. I was shocked. They brought me out a HUGE CHUNK of SHREDDED pork with some lettuce underneath. It was amazing. I didn't think I was going to get that much meat. It was tender and moist and delicious by itself. Now let me tell you about their SIX BBQ SAUCES. Yes, six. I liked all of them (they have descriptions on the bottles) and range from sweet to vinegary. My favorite was Sauce #3. It's got kick to it and I love me, some spiciness. 1 and 5 are sweet. My trainer ordered a rack of ribs. OMG they smelled and looked phenomenal. I didn't try one but when he took a bite had meat basically melted off the rib bone. SERVICE: Everyone was incredibly friendly and sweet. From the guys taking our orders to the ones bringing out our food, I enjoyed it a lot. On our way out, the guy behind the counter told me he liked my boots. :) Very sweet, indeed. If I ever find myself out in this area of North Little Rock, AR again, I will definitely come back. And I will get those Ribs...and brisket. Lol.
(4)Adam F.
Best BBQ in Arkansas bar none! Great ribs, tasty brisket oh.... Even better service!!
(5)Maureen T.
Just as delicious as others claims. Very convenient to the highway for anyone driving through town. Pulled pork sandwiches with cole slaw right on top plus sauce made our family happy.
(4)Bob S.
I recommend the Whole Hog, been to it twice, loved it both times, where else can you meet Rich the owner making sure everything is ready on game day...Go Hogs....30 - 0 win against Ol' Miss !
(4)Maurizio R.
Bast place to eat bar b que specially with the people who work there very friendly staff
(5)Chloenator M.
Love the food. Pork potato is my favorite. The brownies are amazing and you can have it as one of your sides!!!
(5)Andrew R.
Been there a few times. Love it. Good BBQ. For real. I had a rib meat sandwich last time and it was full of flavor and very tender. You'll like this place, I promise.
(5)tim w.
Holy cow was that good! I can't even decide what I liked best.
(5)Sharona L.
Oh my goodness. Best BBQ I have EVER HAD. Giant portions, fair prices, and easy to get to location. We even had cute little pig cupcakes for dessert. We for sure will be returning to this place.
(5)Sam T.
Southern BBQ at its best! I don't even like BBQ that much but this is great! Food: Beef brisket sandwhich, ribs, and pulled pork sandwhich. Delish. Multiple sauces for you to choose from. Service: Order as counter and pick your food up. They were nice enough to find us a bigger table for the group. Environment: Clean, comfortable and good for big groups. Price: Decently priced for the quality of food provided. Not as cheap as I thought it would be seeing I'm in Little Rock. Food: 5 Service: 4 Environment: 4 Price: 4
(4)S H.
I had the jumbo rib meat sandwich it was awesome. Everyone enjoyed their food. They also had a nice local pale ale. staff was friendly, we will definitely be comming back
(4)Clint D.
This restaurant is the place to go. Don't miss out on this BBQ place it's the best in town!!
(5)Joseph V.
I tend to eat clean just about 95% of the time. Whole hog was able to fit into my nutritional needs with their barbecue salad. Basically salad with any one of their barbecue options piled on top. I chose the pulled chicken and it was amazing! Tender and not dry at all, the chicken was more than enough food to keep this hungry man fed. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Little Rock or to those that have never been.
(5)Adina W.
I stopped by here while driving to the mall in North Little Rock. I ordered a brisket sandwich with a side of salad. I really enjoyed my meal. I didn't think anything was too dry or cold. I love that they have 6 variety of sauces. The workers there are very friendly and they definitely are very attentive. There was a couple next to me who said they really like sauce #4 and #2 and the worker went into the kitchen and brought out a few containers to go for them. I thought was was extremely thoughtful. I would definitely come back again!
(4)Robert L.
I'm not sure what all the hype is about. I had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and potato salad. The meat was very dry for pulled pork and there really wasn't anything special about the flavor. The sauces were very good though. It took a lot of sauce to make the sandwich not so dry. The potato salad was also nothing special at all. It tasted just like any other mayonnaise-based potato salad I've ever tried. The coleslaw was also just very basic. Nothing to write home about. Nothing was really bad, I will probably try to eat there again, and try something different. I just don't understand what all the reviews are about. I've had way better barbecue in several places in Texas. Even at places that no one ever reviews.
(3)Blanca S.
Yummy BBQ! I had the pulled pork plate with cole slaw and baked beans.....meat was moist and tender. I tried sauce # 1 & #5....these are sweet sauces. i enjoyed them both. Slaw was ok. Beans were great. My kids enjoyed their pulled pork too. I saw a few of the sandwiches go by me while we were eating and they looked great....that is what i will try next time. Will definitely be returning to this place while we are here!
(5)Dee B.
Well, haven't been out in a while and I find myself in Little Rock. Noticing a familiar name stopped in here a couple of times to see if was any where near the one down in Santa Fe. Started off with the pull pork (what else!) on the first trip and I must say that it was even better than the one down south. Had the beans and slaw on the side, which were pretty much what I expected, just sides. The second trip went with the ribs (my partners rant about them) and since I'm not a real big fan of ribs they didn't hit me like the others. Tender with a good taste, but again they're ribs. Anyway wouldn't kick this place to the side, never have been disappointed.
(3)Mary M.
After seeing the large number of reviews and the high ratings for this chain I was ready for some barbecue. I love Memphis barbecue and even the run of the mill Texas barbecue you can find in any small town. What a disappointment. The meat was okay, but nothing to deserve its rating. The ribs needed sauce to mask their dryness. Both the chicken and ribs were served lukewarm. We asked about the sides and were told they weren't made in house, and they certainly weren't special. If this is as good as it gets in this metro area, then I'm glad we ate there, but then, I'd hate to think a person couldn't do better.
(2)Mike M.
This place was amazing. AWESOME food and tip top service. As long as I stay in LR, this will be my weekend feeding trough.
(5)Matt H.
Not bad... I do like all of their sauces, their friendly staff, the banana cream pie, and the atmosphere. The pulled pork was a little dry, the thinly sliced brisket was very good, the potato salad was excellent and reminded me of a fully loaded baked potato, and the baked beans were good. My wife and son had the ribs and loved them. Next time in Arkansas, I'll definitely go back to Whole Hog Cafe.
(4)Dan K.
I love good barbecue, and I'm very particular about my BBQ. I've been searching for the perfect BBQ restaurant for years, one that has the absolute best BBQ meat I've ever tasted, the best sides I've ever had, and the best tasting sauce. I've never found a place that can deliver on all three, but the Whole Hog Cafe delivers 2 out of three, and is my favorite BBQ restaurant, anywhere, hands down. I've dined at a LOT of BBQ joints around the country, and it doesn't get any better than this. The BBQ meat is fantastic (I love the pulled pork and beef brisket), and they have six different sauces to suit your preference, ranging from a sweet Kansas City style sauce, to authentic southern style sauces. The #2 sauce is my favorite. My wife loves their sides, and swears by their potato salad, but I think they are just average. Nonetheless, my opinion of their mediocre sides are eclipsed by their fantastic meat and BBQ sauce. The place is usually quite busy at lunchtime, but service is relatively quick. You order at the counter, and they will call your number when your food is ready. If you haven't tried the Whole Hog Cafe, give it a try - you won't be disappointed!
(5)Adam H.
Not bad, not great, but not bad. Got the pork and brisket combo. The pork is tasty but dry. Brisket was ok, needed more flavor. The sauces are awesome which saved the meal. The baked beans are also very good. On the fence on the tater salad I think it's made with ranch.
(3)Travis M.
Pretty freaking good barbecue, especially if you're away from home for six months and don't have a way to do it yourself. I always get the pulled pork sandwich, slaw on the side, with baked beans. Delicious. The sauces are the best part, they really set the food off and with 7 or 8 to choose from there's something for everybody. Staff is extremely courteous. Mondays are Military Discount 10% days fyi.
(5)Travis P.
Good food. Good atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely come back

On our way back from the west coast we stayed in little rock Arkansas and had dinner there, the food there was fantastic! I had the combo plate with brisket and pulled pork, the pulled pork was tender and the best was the brisket, as it was very tender and moist with a great flavor, the BBQ beans were very good and the potato salad was excellent, the six BBQ sauces were also very good wit a good explanation, description of the sauces. I wholly recommend this place.

BBQ just doesn't get much better than this. Time after time they serve up really good bbq and service. No fried food items so it's chips instead of fries but you won't even miss them if you go with the great bbq beans and potato salad.

Sewwwwwwwy!!!! Love the Whole Hog!! I was in town on business and the office I was visiting said we had to go here because it was THE BEST BBQ IN TOWN. So we went there for lunch.... THREE TIMES!!! Yes, It was VERY good!!! (hence the three visits!!) I had the pulled pork and sliced brisket each time. The first time I had the potato salad and the coleslaw... after that is was just two servings of the potato salad... I was warned that it was the best potato salad ever, but I had to find out for myself. Well, I would have to agree with that.. it was definitely the best potato salad ever. Can't say exactly why... maybe its the crack they put in it... LOL. No really, it is AWESOME ... you gotta try it for yourself to see... I assure you... you wont be disappointed!! At the table, they have SIX different sauces to choose from. I tried about 4 of them... kept going back to #6 and #2. All that I tried were pretty good though!! Anyway... if this pace is sooooooo good, why only 4 stars??? Well, I am a huge fan of the WHOLE HOG... but I would have to say that I have had better... in another city. If it weren't for that... then this would be the best ever!! But I assure you... GO HERE!!! EAT HERE!!! GET THE POTATO SALAD!!!! YOU WILL leave very full.... and VERY satisfied!!!

Great management, great food, consistent. IMO the best Whole Hog BBQ by far. I have never been disappointed, ever. I guarantee if I was and let the owner know he would take care of it.

Yes, I know that it's not in St. Louis, but it is the standard that I measure all BBQ places I go. I spent a couple of years living in Little Rock, AR, and for me, this is one of the perks of living in that lovely little city. The Whole Hog is tucked away in a sleepy little strip mall not far from the heart of downtown Little Rock. Upon entering the restaurant, you know that you are in for a treat because each wall is bedecked with trophies, medals, and plaques boasting their excellence in BBQ. If it's your first time, get the Whole "Hawg" Platter. Heck, if it's your twenty-first time, get the Whole "Hawg" Platter. It is a lovely platter that comes Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, Baby Back Ribs, Beans, Potato Salad, Coleslaw, and a Dinner Roll. It will make you cry. Here's how you eat it. Grab a beer. Sit down. Line up all of the sauces on the table in front of you and have at it. My particular method administers a squeeze of a different sauce for each bit. Delicious! Tip: If you like to live on the edge, ask the cashier for the Volcano sauce. It's so spicy that they keep it off the table and only portion it out upon request. The only thing about the restaurant that I could do without are all of the framed photos of cute piglets all over the place. I love the pork, but the guilt makes my heart weep a bit... ...weep a bit as I take another bite...

The absolute best BBQ in the Little Rock area. I've eaten just about everything on the menu and haven't had a bad meal yet.

This place is freakin delicious! Still better than any BBQ I've had in Memphis
(5)Jay W.
Best BBQ in central Arkansas in my opinion. This one happens to be pretty close to my house so double bonus points!

Overall not a bad place to eat. This place recieves high accolades by the locals and in my opinion the reputation is undeserved. Not the best BBQ I've ever had, but a decent meal at a decent price. If you like your BBQ sauce spicy, prepare to be disappointed since their spiciest sauce is weak at best. If you want BBQ nirvana, go elsewhere...if you want a decent meal without excessive production and short wait times, go here.

I've been here twice now and I've been impressed both times. I like to think I know good barbecue, coming from Texas, and this fits the bill. The selection of sauces and the sides are probably what makes this place unique. I had "queso chicken soup" as one of my sides and it tasted awesome. The meat is really good (I've had pork and chicken), not the best I've ever had, but completely acceptable. I want to try the pulled pork next time. Fair prices. As far as ambiance, it's in a strip mall and isn't anything that special, but it's clean.

The. best. Hands down. I love the potato topped with pulled pork. Try all of the sauces! A cheap, delicious, filling meal.

I was just having a discussion at work the other day about this very place. Some BBQ joints hide their inferior meat with overwhelming sauce and spices. Whole Hog serves meat with great flavor. Their sauces compliment all their offerings. The sides are also a tasty compliment to their plates. Everything about this place makes me happy! The potato salad alone, makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

I absolutely love Whole Hog! Before they put in this location I would pass numerous BBQ places to drive 20 minutes to their LR location. Great quality BBQ- I love the pulled pork. Excellent potato salad. Also-- I love making my own mixes with all the sauces they provide. Beer on tap & in bottle. If you haven't been-- you must check it out!

As a discerning BBQ lover I will say that is is a very good place to get your fix, they have a wide variety of plates, sandwich's, etc..
(3)Sam B.
Best potato salad in the world! I love the brisket also, this is my favorite BBQ place in Arkansas.

We ate at the Whole Hog Cafe this evening - outstanding food. The pulled pork and the pulled chicken were juicy - perfect. The potato salad, coleslaw and beans were excellent. An altogether great meal. We'll definitely stop here again if we're ever in the area.

First off let me state that I am a northerner from the great lakes area....thats right a yankee but not a damn yankee because I am only down here in your parts for a little while. This part of Arkansas has a lot of very good smoked pork restaurants and whole hog is one of my new all time favorites. They use the shorter less fat baby back ribs smoked over pecan wood. At the table there are 6 different sauces for your dipping pleasure.I have been here 3 times and have ordered the ribs which are very good to the pulled pork which i liked and the beef brisket which is very lean. I am not a big potato salad and baked beans kind of guy but I'll tell you what I finished both of them and I was looking for more. (Don't tell my mother that). The potato salad has good flavor and I believed made with a sour cream base. The only thing that I didn't like was the texture. It was a bit too smooth and may come off as mushy. The baked beans have a molasses forward, sweet smokey flavor with an excellent texture nice dark caramel color. I used to hate baked beans not anymore. They have beer on tap and I even found a new favorite there, Diamond Bear IPA. Service is prompt and courteous the place has charm and there are different hard cover books laying around for your reading pleasure. About the only bad thing that i can say is the bland white bun that comes with the pulled pork sandwich. The same one that seems to be universally used in these parts. If they could upgrade this to something of a higher quality and better flavor I would have given them 5 stars.

Back in Arkansas since May... the bf and I went here one of the first nights we were here in May checking out his school and now he is living here so again, we had to come back... this was the only place we really really liked... we were really excited because there was a whole hog cafe in the airport here too!! So cheap, lots of food, and really tasty. Not the healthiest food, but such a good deal and just feel good food. You seat yourself, and get your drinks yourself, which works fine for me because you get the nice restaurant atmosphere without having to tip a server. The #3 sauce is my favorite and we also tried the Volcano sauce that you get at the front desk and it was very spicy but worth a try. I am a sucker for the pulled pork nachos. Yummy! I'm only here for 2 weeks but I imagine we will be back at least one more time before I leave.

Great pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. I am in the minority - I didn't like the potato salad, but the beans were great, and the cold slaw was good. The meat is the star of the show, which really is the why I go. I'd put Whole Hog a close second behind Arthur Bryant's in Kansas City, but still 5 stars for the awesome meats.
(5)Zoe D.
Best BBQ ever! The pork was amazing, sooo flavorful...the sauce (I went with #3 & #6) were an added bonus. potato salad was delicious but the slaw just okay. Ribs were fall off the bone tender. Good service on my to-go order and I love the shirt I bought to remember the fabulous food!
(5)Richard B.
This is my second trip to this store. The store is clean service quick and friendly. Now here comes the but. I ordered jumbo pork plate. For a jumbo the size of the portions was small. For BBQ there was no smoke flavor at all. Stick with the one in Little Rock it's better.
(2)Kitty K.
Good BBQ, love the self service beverages, but wish the serving size of sides were bigger! Also love the six different sauce choices on the table! Also has wi-fi for those who are perpetually connected.
(3)Greg M.
Might be the best BBQ I ever ate. Pulled pork had the perfect texture. Just the right amount if smoke permeated each bite and the bark was charred to perfection. I am salivating just thinking about it.
(5)Hideki K.
The Whole Hog Cafe catered for the 2011 Little Rock Marathon after party at the William J. Clinton Presidential Library. I was underwhelmed by their food. The pulled pork was too dry. The potato salad was what I liked best.
(2)Cher S.
Awesome BBQ! Staff is great! I'm not a huge fan of BBQ but LOVE theirs?? I always make sure I eat here every time I come into town! LOVE it!
(5)Laura N.
A must if you are looking for some good BBQ

My boyfriend and I didn't think too highly of this place at all. We were on a BBQ tour across the country and came here with friends of ours who live in Little Rock. I don't know if it had to do with the fact that we got there about 1/2 hour before they closed or what but the food just seemed cold. We did like their BBQ sauces that we tried on their own.
(2)Lydia K.
Best BBQ!!! Love this place! I've been to both locations in Little Rock and they are both delicious!
(5)Damon F.
OK the Potato salad & beans were fantastic. The beans were smoky and full of flavor. The slaw was fresh & tasty. On the combo platter you get brisket, pulled pork and ribs. The ribs were cold and just all right. Maybe if they were hot a better rating. The meat was tender, they did have a nice char on them & they had potential... Pulled pork was dry and cold The brisket was dry and cold. Clearly we came at the wrong time. Food had been out for a while. It all had potential. But a 5 Star should always deliver not just at certain time of the day, One of the other things I really liked were the six different flavored sauces in squeeze bottles. Each was clearly marked & described, Did I mention I loved the beans & potato salad?
(2)Tanya M.
it was good. i got the brisket and chicken, baked beans, and potato salad. we went on a monday night. it was very slow night. i liked the brisket and chicken. it was a little dry that night but still good. the beans were a bit peppery for me. the potato salad was so interesting. it had a ranch taste to it. i really liked it. i wish they had fries. it was good enough to try again next time.

Some of the best BBQ I have ever had and living in the South I should know. The meats are super tender, moist and the wide arrange of saucy just make your mouth water even more. They have a unique potato salad that is to die for. I love coming here every time I make it through Little Rock.
(5)Dana G.
I've never left hungry! I love the chicken BBQ salad.
(5)Mark F.
Great food, the meat has just the right amount of smoke flavor and falls apart perfectly. Any lurking Texans can get outstanding beef brisket that you crave so much. Our daughter loves the chicken and its not a grilled with some sauce on "barbeque chicken" its from the pit and pulled or sliced. I'll stick with the pulled pork and cold PBR. Best BBQ in North Little Rock and Little Rock. Eat .here at least once week. Yummmmmmm
(5)Kelly M.
If you want BBQ then this is the place to eat. Great ribs with almost no fat. You don't even need to add sauce. Try BBQ nachos with pulled pork and sauce #3, or if 3 is to spicy for you try #2. This is my favorite place for BBQ. This restaurant is an off-shoot of the original on Cantrell in Little Rock.
(5)Keith C.
This is another location serving the World Famous Whole Hog BBQ. The restaurant is very nice, very quick service and the food is as good as Barbeque gets.
(5)Mike M.
I've eaten BBQ in just about every location that is know for the cuisine. Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, North Carolina, Alabama. Every variety, from white chicken to Korean. And none, seriously NONE, of the food I've ever had is as amazingly perfect as the ribs from Whole Hog. Tender, lean, juicy and packed with flavor. The quality of the meat itself is top notch. Just enough smoke and spice. Add a little of the #4 sauce (that's the vinegary one), and you will know of what I speak. Amazingly, it's always that good. I've had ribs there countless times and they are always as good as the time before. That kind of consistency is just so hard to achieve with barbecue... The number of times I've sat down to a meal here to hear someone else exclaim, "This is the best barbecue I've ever had!"... I don't know... a dozen? I actually once heard a man call his boss in Kansas City to tell him the ribs he was eating were better than Oklahoma Joe's in Kansas City. True story. I'm a diverse eater and like to try everything, especially if indications are it's going to blow my mind (this is likely, based on the ribs). The pulled pork is almost as amazing as the ribs, but honestly, as good as the other menu items are, if I don't order a half slab I'll feel like I missed yet another opportunity to experience perfection.
